SALEM -- The Bush administration's top human services chief reassured Oregonians of the benefits of the new Medicare drug program Thursday but offered few specifics on how the federal government would fix problems created by the plan.

Medicare Part D, which pays for some prescription drugs for senior citizens, started Jan. 1. Since then, recipients have clogged help lines with their questions and complaints, and pharmacists have spent hours on the phone tracking down patients' coverage."
