EDITOR: For years we have been trying to figure out what this was throughout the park. They say a fungicide will kill it. Anybody know the name of it?
KOIN News 6 for Local News Weather and Sports, Portland, OR; KOIN.com - Tree Disease On Oregon coast: "Tree Disease On Oregon coast
ASTORIA, Ore. - Oregon coastal forests are seeing a resurgence in Swiss needle cast disease, a fungus that kills the needles on Douglas fir trees.
It doesn't kill trees but reduces growth rates by up to half.
Aerial surveys show more than 338-thousand acres infected by the disease - almost double the 2004 total.
The fungus thrives in warm, wet conditions and turns needles yellow before the tree 'casts' them off.
Foresters say they can do little to contain the disease. They say a fungicide would do it but that it would be expensive and risky to spray it over the hundreds of thousands of infected acres.
The disease tends not to spread inland more than about 18 miles because of weather conditions.
The surveys show that Tillamook County has the most extensive damage."

MILWAUKIE, ORE. --- It is small spark in a single project that one company hopes will lead to a bigger innovation.
That innovation is taking place near Milwaukie inside the massive factory floor at Oregon Iron Works. There, workers armed with welding torches piece together a prototype ocean buoy that may one day lead to new advancements in wave energy.
After looking towards the sun, rivers and even wind as a source for power, more companies are now turning to the ocean."

Ron,
Practicing with the e-form is a great idea. TEST will be important to be noted in case a form does get sent our way. Everyone should be reminded that these e-forms are for what we call COLD calls. These are incidents that occurred overnight or in the past. If the incident is going on right NOW, people should either call 9-1-1 or Lincom dispatch at 265-4231. Thanks for all that you do.

How many times can the federal government let down the victims of the hurricanes that ravaged the Gulf Coast two years ago?
First there was the inept response to Hurricane Katrina by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which stood haplessly by as the water rose in New Orleans, bloated bodies floating in the fetid current. Then came the delay in providing temporary housing for tens of thousands of evacuees.
More than 66,000 of the victims still live in FEMA’s trailers, unable to return home. In a sickening twist to their woeful tale of neglect, it appears that their trailers have been poisoning them. FEMA, which knew of the problem for more than a year, ignored warnings from its own staff and avoided addressing it because it was worried about being sued."
