COMING HOME!
@ 7:00am Sunday we will roll toward home. Packed the car today and gassed up at $3.08 a gallon.
It was a real challenge getting everything in the van. Since Lori has to lay down all the way I removed the seat and am leaving it here. A couple of foam mattresses now are in its place. Have everything but the last things such as crutches and wheelchair, computer and a couple of overnite bags.
We will see you all around the park on Monday.

Things are going pretty well
Tommorow I have to prepare the van for Lori. She is going to have to ride the entire way to Newport Laying down on a mattress in the back with her foot elevated above her heart. This is not like any broken foot thingy we have ever heard of. They put her in a soft cast 6 months ago and told her they did not know where the pain was coming from because x-rays showed no break. Finally, they did an MRI an viola! there has been a break all along. Then the operation. The instuctions.. Must lay down 90% of the time with the foot elevated above the heart. No weight whatsoever on the foot. The foot is splinted and only in a half cast. It can't have a cast on it.
This makes care for her pretty intensive. She says not to worry however as she will have us whipped into shape in no time at all :(
Then there is capture of the two cats on Sunday. One is pretty nice and will go in his carrier without complaint.. it's his favorite sleep hidy hole anyway. The other cat is psychotic and for the most part does not like people,, will run and hide if you get her carrier out. Capture of her is going to be fun. So Sunday is to be spent on the road with a cranky foot, 2 cats singing and 11 1/2 hours of drive. But I have a secret weapon.. 2 packs of ear plugs.

Well I just had to write about a few things I have seen in this park.
Here the rule is you cannot walk your pet on a leash in the park... I swear this is true, honestly... Yesterday as I was going shopping and here came two ladies walkiing their dogs... Not like you are thinking... They were carrying the dogs! That is an acceptable practice. More on that.. You are only allowed one dog and it has to go for an interview with park management who determine if it is friendly enough to be allowed.
Each day the park has what is lovingly referred to as "The Park Nazi Patrol" scan the lots for rule violations.
While at the hospital Jacky and I went to the cafeteria. We found the employees rude, and some sanitary conditions questionable. Such as ants on the tables, clean food trays not available. I stand at the cash register for a couple of minutes looking at the clerk who has moved to a table in the restaurant to have a conversation in Chinese with another employee. They just ignore you.
Finally, while eating on a napkin (improvised food tray) I look down the way were a man is sitting ...with a covered stroller. He gets up.. looks around furitively and uncovers the stroller... up pops the head of a dog.. a Corgi I think, right there in the hospital cafeteria.
This morning a man came to spray for ants at the neighbors. I asked how much that costs. He said a $150 for the initial spray and $60 every 2 months therafter. Compare that with our exterminator in Newport who comes in the spring, summer and fall for $30 a visit.
Well that's it from caly fornie

Still here in California..
Today was the big operation. We were all at the hospital from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Lori had a bone removed in one part of her foot and grafted to the damaged area of her foot and then a screw put in to hold it all together. She has to keep her foot above her heart for a few days. Until that takes place we are going to have to stay put here at her home in Sunnyvale.
Getting up the stairs to her modular home found her crawling into her house as she can put no weight on her foot.
Since being here and using this new MAC computer of hers I found I cannot get email at my gmail address. So if you have emailed me there I have not read your email... Sorry. However, if you need or want to email us you can email me at teckron@hotmail.com and I do get that one on her machine.
Hot.. it's uncomfortably hot today... Wish we were on our way back.

CANOE -- CNEWS - Weird News: Oregon women seeking 'cutest cop' put on probation:
"Oregon women seeking 'cutest cop' put on probation
HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon woman who called 911 in hopes of another look at 'the cutest cop I've seen in God knows how long' won't go to jail for misusing the emergency system, a judge decided.
Instead, Lorna Dudash was sentenced to serve two years of probation and 100 hours of community service and ordered to pay $693 in fines and fees.
'People who are, oh, say, older than seven know not to use 911, except when where is an emergency,' Washington County Judge Marco Hernandez told Dudash, of Aloha, Ore. "

USATODAY.com - Gas prices might increase 24 cents
USATODAY.com - Gas prices might increase 24 cents:
"Gas prices might increase 24 cents
By James R. Healey, USA TODAY
Gasoline prices could rocket 24 cents a gallon the next few days, as stations across the USA scramble to keep up with big jumps in the prices of oil and wholesale gas, a veteran energy-price analyst forecast Thursday.
'It's going to be brutal, horrendous,' says Peter Beutel, president of energy-price tracker Cameron Hanover. He has followed energy markets for nearly three decades"

SARGENTO CHEESE. If this is a brand of cheese you enjoy (made in Plymouth, Wisconsin) better run down to the store today and stock up. The recent $209,000,000 Power Ball lottery was won by a group of 100 Sargento employees. If they take a lump sum payment each employee will receive between $500,000 and $700,000 AFTER taxes.
Now stop and think about it for a minute. If you made your living in curds and whey and found over a half a million bucks dropped in your lap, how interested would you be in putting on your white coat and hair net?
Looks to me that either Sargento just went out of business, or Plymouth, Wisconsin will have a boon in employment and the sale of big screen TVs.

California Saga...
We're here!
Strange as it may seem.. it's chilly this morning??? In fact it is cool. Coming down we stopped in Redding for gas and I thought we had entered the gates of Hades as that sucker was unbeleivably hot. Took your breath away.
Cost of gas to get here $49. Gas is running $3.29 here and $2.89 in Philomouth.
Time of travel 11 1/2 hours Newport to Sunnyvale.
Lori has this cat which is a very long haired breed and I can't even say the name of the breed. This year she had someone give him a summer haircut. She did a good job he kept some hair and got rid of a lot of snags. But she shaved his tummy pretty close and lo and behold Simba has a ticklish tummy. New fun..
Operation is Wednesday.
