Earthquake fault much larger, more dangerous than thought | McClatchy: "Scientists believe a 9.0 quake rocked the Cascadia subduction zone, where two tectonic plates collide just off the west coast, on Jan. 26, 1700, producing a giant tsunami that hit Japan. A similar quake, which could produce a tsunami of 60 to 90 feet that would hit the northwest coast in 15 minutes or less, is considered likely, though scientists aren't sure when."

Baskets reinforce lesson of kindness and humility - San Bernardino County Sun
Baskets reinforce lesson of kindness and humility - San Bernardino County Sun: "'Students have to do homework assignments that reinforce the lessons. Last month our theme was `honor.''
The baskets, filled with fresh flowers and candy, also contained a note about their 'mission to impact local neighborhoods with 2,000 acts of kindness.'
When Raeline Wray opened her door and saw the basket there, she thought it was a great gesture.
'I just thought this was so cool,' she said. 'I wonder how many people were having a bad day and found the little basket of candy on their doorstep and maybe just for a second forgot how bad the day was.'"

On Charles Burke
Jim Rose forwarded this email from Frida Burke
Hi
Charles is coming along pretty well after surgery, he is walking 4 times a day but tires easily. However, his heart has a mind of it's own and the doc is having trouble regulating his heart beat and his blood pressure, which has been very low. So, he is still hooked up to all the monitors and gadgets they have available to keep an eye on him. He might get the chest tubes taken out tomorrow. No word on when he will be discharged and if he will come home or go to rehab for awhile.
Charles is in room 2311 bed #2 if you liked to give him a call, I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you.
