Toygers have been registered with the International Cat Association (TICA) since 1993. This May they will join more familiar purebred felines, such as Persians and Siamese, that can be judged as championship cats at TICA-sponsored cat shows."

Photo in the News: Jurassic "Crocodile" Found in Oregon: "March 22, 2007—It endured a rocky ride—literally—but this ancient 'sea monster' from Asia has found a place in the United States to call home.

The fossil remains of a crocodile-like reptile called Thalattosuchia have been discovered in rocks in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon—about 5,000 miles (8,050 kilometers) from where it most likely died, researchers announced on Monday. So far about 50 percent of the animal, including the upper leg bone and rib fragments seen here (bottom), have been unearthed."

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Sea floor records ancient Earth

BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Sea floor records ancient Earth: "Today, oceanic crust is created at plate boundaries known as mid-ocean ridges, where magma rises from the asthenospehere through cracks in the ocean floor, cools and spreads away.

See how plate tectonics works

As it moves away from the spreading centre towards the edges of the oceans it becomes cooler, denser and eventually starts to sink back into the mantle to be recycled.

'Sea floor is not normally preserved for more than 200 million years,' said Professor Rosing.

Most is destroyed at subduction zones, such as those found along the edge of the Pacific Ocean, where oceanic crust plunges under the buoyant and long-lived continental crust."
We're Home!

Arrived last night at 12:00AM with two cats who explored the house. Talked to us all night. Trashed everything in the house and generally behaved badly. And so it begins .. Who will win? Cats or humans. We are playing catch up they have won the first round.

It's 11:30 am while I'm writing this and I just tumbled out of the sack. Jacky on the other hand has gone into hibernation. We may not see her for some time. We have 14 email messages from folks who can't believe we went and had a vacation in CA in the 90 degree heat packing and making our son's home ready for his move. Be patient I will get her up by sticking a doughnut and coffee in front of her den later on. This move has to be executed carefully lest you lose a hand.

Wayde Dudley had a GPS class today, March 20th, at the LVH Clubhouse. After an informative talk by Wayde, with some great input by people attending, everyone went out on the deck to see some GPS units in action.

Unique and Useful Tips!

Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a non-stick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.

Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar/calories per serving.

Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants; work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

Broken Glass
Use a dry cotton ball to pick up little broken glass pieces of glass- the fibers catch ones you can't see!

No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The ca yenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gif wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and - voila - static is gone.

Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill it with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry the cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out.

Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

Reopening envelope
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Voila! It unseals easily.

Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair..

Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dishwashing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home," & can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, ESP. If it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

Take baby powder to the beach
Keep a small bottle of baby powder in your beach bag. When your ready to leave the beach sprinkle yourself and kids with the powder and the sand will slide right off your skin.

CPR without rescue breathing better for cardiac arrest patients

CPR without rescue breathing better for cardiac arrest patients: "The standard or recommended CPR includes 30 chest compressions and two mouth-to- mouth breaths. Chest compression requires pressing the patient's chest down at least one and a half inches within less than one second before releasing.

Often times, bystanders would not want to do CPR on strangers because they are reluctant to do rescue breaths. Even if they do, they may skip rescue resuscitation because of fears that they could get a contagious disease from the victim.

But the new study indicates that people don't have to feel guilty if they do not provide mouth-to-mouth resuscitation because if they do, they might even hurt the patient."
