Medicare's troubled prescription drug rollout: "Medicare's troubled prescription drug rollout
It's unacceptable that some low-income seniors have left pharmacies without getting their medicine
Tuesday, January 17, 2006
No senior citizen should have to endure the anguish that's hit hundreds of low-income Oregonians trying to get medical prescriptions filled since the beginning of January.
And no pharmacist should have to endure the heartache and heartburn of trying to help such seniors get medicine under the federal government's new prescription drug program.
Unfortunately, the new Medicare benefit is off to a rocky start since Jan. 1, not just in Oregon but all across the nation. Millions of low-income Americans who get both Medicare and Medicaid, and whose Medicaid drug coverage ended Dec. 31, have encountered a shock at their pharmacies."
