Counting Coup kew

Counting Coup (kew)....

American Indians .... had a sport that indicated their bravery. Instead of killing one another sometimes they would charge an opponent and merely touch him to show they were not afraid. The opponent usually was armed and if the attacker could get away without injury it was considered an act of great bravery and skill. Warriors kept track of their coups with notches on their coup stick.. The more notches the braver the warrior.

Today an old warrior counted coup on me. As I was leaving the old timers morning coffee klatch.... I said my good byes and  with my back to the group in a  low voice one person said you can all take a deep breath now and relax your butts.

It’s good to be home.
