Scientists discover a wealth of new species in a remote jungle

DOZENS of animal and plant species ranging from vividly coloured birds to exotic frogs, and from the world’s largest-flowered rhododendron to a tree kangaroo, were revealed yesterday by scientists who landed by helicopter in a “Garden of Eden”.
The tract of jungle on the slopes of the Foja mountain range in New Guinea was a lost world apparently untouched by man. Some of the creatures found there were unafraid and content to be handled."
