SALEM, Ore. (AP) ? Sgt. Alan Gilbert of the Oregon State Police looks forward to hitting the road again.
He's one of the state troopers whose law enforcement time has been diverted to managing evidence rooms at state police stations.
By May 1, the patrol hopes to have hired nine evidence technicians, who are in charge of managing evidence from crime scenes. They catalog evidence, transport it to crime labs for examination by forensic scientists and maintain evidence lockers and databases."
