School Daze

School Daze ..

Today we had computer school at the clubhouse. We ran three of the four sets of classes scheduled (5:00pm class was a no show except for one and we will teach him privately at a later date). 15 folks went through the hour long sessions. Jacky Thomas assisted the students. To those of you that attended and came away with something tell everybody so they will sign up for the next set coming soon.

A course designed by Sid Adkins is coming and we have Donna Davi warming up in the wings to teach a class in Excel spread sheets. Donna has a sign up sheet on the bulletin board now so she can gauge interest in this class. Sign up now ... Class sizes will be limited. We may be able to persuade Diane Doyle to teach a bit too and maybe even Bill Holt... So keep tuned for future announcements ,here and on the Bulletin Board.

I will be talking to Sid and seeing how he wants to run the next series of classes and if he would like me to help teach as well. So expect a class description and sign up soon.

Meanwhile, the future of the computer lab is getting brighter. We will be hooking up the high speed internet network in the clubhouse for the next few days. Mr. Brian Friterer, the managing owner of our park, has kindly offered to pay for high speed internet and allow us to share the hook up with the office.  This is a very nice gift indeed as it comes to about $600 a year.

As you know the Social Club voted to allow me to purchase the hardware to build the network. That is done and most of the cabling is done. Now comes installation. Along the way Ron Gibbs donated a WIFI router and as a result of that we will have wireless internet access in the clubhouse. That means you will be able to bring your laptop to the clubhouse and go on the internet if you have the capability.

So if you are looking for me you will probably find me at the end of a cable in the club house with a screw driver in hand for the next few days. Please come and use and play in the computer lab.. Fun for you.
