CLARIFICATION of

CLARIFICATION of
Computer Classes

There has been confusion over who is signed up for computer classes. Here is the real deal.

At the present time we are teaching mini-series classes. Classes that skip around computer subjects and are easy for people who are learning to teach as well as people who are students. In a way you could say we are trying to develop a base of instructors as well as students at the same time.

This comes in this order because we lack instructors right now who have time to donate to a full on structured computer class. Sid Adkins has offered to teach such a course and I have signed on to help or co-teach with him. But Sid has commitments to honor later this month so I may give it a whirl on my own but it will come later in the month.

Meanwhile, what we can do is teach short classes on skills that you can take home and practice. Donna Davi taught such a class today on the program called EXCEL. She was buoyed by the experience and encouraged by those that attended.. Now she is thinking about teaching a second class.

Now it’s my turn and I have chosen to teach some basic skills next Wednesday on Copy and paste, Cut and Paste , Saving as.. These skills are basic to almost all computer programs and are easy to learn. While these mini courses are going on You have to sign up for each one.. If I have the stamina I will try to put on more than one course on the school day (decision on that will be next Monday). We try to make classes no more than 1 hour but sometimes they will run longer.

We need instructors to either teach a course or man the lab for 1 hour a week to answer folk’s questions on a one on one basis. Many of our seniors just need help with the basics now.. So if you know them how about donating an hour? Sign up on the bulletin board at the clubhouse.
