Newport News-Times: Mppitsos swims sectionals:Newport swimmer Michael Mpitsos competed at the Senior Sectionals in Phoenix, Ariz. March 8 - 12 with elite swimmers from Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. The meet was held outdoors and the weather conditions were miserable, according to coach Amy Emmett. Mpitsos still managed some good races, setting new NST (Newport Swim Team) records in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 100 butterfly. He also competed in the 200 back, 200 individual medley and 50 free. His best finish was 12th out 81 in the 100 back prelims.
