Newport News-Times: AARP driver safety program offered in April:
Previously called '55 Alive,' the AARP Driver Safety Program is an eight hour classroom course for older drivers. All Oregon licensed qualified drivers aged 55 and up receive a substantial multiyear discount on their auto insurance premiums after completing this course.

Several topics of interest relevant to today's more experienced driver include how to make adjustments to changes in hearing, vision, and reaction time; accessing driving abilities; various road challenges; aggressive drivers and road rage and winter driving. There are no tests.

In Newport, the class will be held at the Pacific West Ambulance facility from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, on April 10 and 11. Call for reservations at 574-2684.
