Confirming what many fans already thought, the ACC officially gained 'Elite' status on Sunday, as North Carolina and Duke joined Maryland among the final eight teams in this year's NCAA Tournament.
A conference which literally grew bigger following the offseason addition of Boston College from the Big East continues to grow figuratively bigger in national prominence. But will the Final Four in Boston be a celebration of the league's ascent to the peak of women's college basketball, or a reminder that the route to the top grows more difficult with each step?
