Tsunami.....

RT

Here are my thoughts on what LVH can do about Tsunami and bad disaster warnings....

First let me say I have purchased a NOAA Emergency Radio from Amazon.com. It has some features that will be useful . It can be programed to only sound alerts with a siren and flashing light on the unit as well as external devices such as outdoor lights and sirens.

It is battery backed up in case of loss of power. It can be programmed to only broadcast alerts for Lincoln County, Oregon.

People could buy these units for themselves or We could have the Neighborhood Watch Co-ordinator and Assistant Co-ordinator supplied with these radios and they in turn would call the Block Captians who would notify the rest of us.

If the Neighborhood Watch idea is a good idea then we should have the Neighborhood Watch Co-ordinator and Block Captians have a community meeting to discuss:

  1. How to buy the equipment.
  2. What to do if Co-ordindinators are gone from the park
  3. If the alert calls for a wave higher than 150ft (My home is 214ft above sea level) How to evacuate out the back gate up Iron Mountain.
Of course note... I haven't tried the radio out yet as I haven't received it. This snippet is here to promote discussion about a community safety problem.
