From Darlene Hooley US Reperesentative...

via email...

Dear Friend:

This year, Congress is debating changes to one of our country’s most popular and significant institutions: Social Security. In nearly 70 years, Social Security has never been a day late or a dollar short. Even today, as more of us are living longer, Social Security is remarkably sound. Yet, just like pension systems and the tax policy fueling 401(k) plans, Social Security requires action to keep it strong and secure.

On Thursday and Friday, August 4th and 5th, I would like to invite you to share your thoughts on how to best strengthen Social Security at three Neighborhood Office Hours on the central Oregon coast. I will unveil a report from the House Government Reform Committee that details the specific impact of President Bush’s proposal to create private accounts within Social Security on Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District.

So if you would like to voice your opinion on Social Security, hear about the work I'm doing on your behalf in Washington, D.C., or if you're having trouble with a Federal agency, like the Social Security Administration or the IRS, I hope that you will join me later this week at the location that is most convenient for you. If you have any questions, please call my district office at 1-888-446-6539.
