The Newspaper vs RSS (Really Simple Syndication)

RT
A while back I decided to cancel my newspaper because of some really bad service. I tried another and it proved to be equally bad. I heard about RSS on the internet and thought I would give it a try.

RSS is your own personalized on line news paper. By using an RSS reader you get the news that really interests you without going through an entire newspaper looking for articles. Not only that you pick from literally hundreds of sources. On your personal reader board you can pick any news source in the world to be scanned constantly for subjects that are personally interesting to you.

Once you have decided on your news sources you simply tune into your RSS page and select one. A headline and synopsis of each article that may be of interest to you appears. You scroll through them and when you find something that peaks your interest ... CLICK of the mouse and up pops the whole story. You then can save the story in a place called my clippings, or email it to a friend or blog a portion of it and put it on your website like I do here on the LVH site.

Once you've looked at the titles or read the stories RSS marks them as read and sends them to your personal archive then sets up for the next batch from that source. However, if you find a story you really want to keep you can send it to a place called "MY CLIPPINGS" where it will be stored as long as you like.

Does your gandchild have a blog? Son or daughter? You set them up in your RSS reader too. Whenever they make a new entry in their blog (which is just like our LVH website) it will show up on your reader board... You can then read what they say and make a comment to them.

Here are some of the sources I selected to scan the news for me.. You can add or delete news sources any time from among hundreds to pick.

In addition I read the Statesman Journal on line addition and the Oregonian on line and the Newport News on line.

Would anybody be interested in coming to the clubhouse computer room and setting up an RSS reader for themselves? I would be happy to show you how individually or in a group. We could go on line right there and do it. When you go home you just call up your new site on your computer and bookmark it... You are then good to go. The news you like, anywhere you like, anytime you like.
