Newport News-Times: Spring has sprung:Yellow daffodils are blooming all over Newport this spring as a result of a community project called 'Fields of Freedom.' The flowers pictured here are in front of Coast Guard Station Yaquina Bay. Last November, area agencies, organizations, businesses and individuals planted thousands of daffodil bulbs around the city. The idea was not only to beautify Newport, but also to honor American troops, similar to the idea of displaying yellow ribbons.
