On a lovely Jamacian afternoon, surrounded by surf and sand, our son, Rob, married his better half, Petrea, in a quiet and barefoot ceremony. The couple reside in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, where the newest Mrs. Thomas is a fifth-grade teacher and Roberto performs high-end computer voodoo for Honda's North America division. They pay monthly into a bank account I specify. They don't say how much we can make. They indicate the best way is to try out the arrangement and see what we get.

Ok, I'm done....
After looking at code all day I think we are all set. You may or may not like the colors or want this or that and that is all doable .. Header pictures and all that could change. Difficult is to have our calendar in a scrolling position but if you want it instead of the link on the right mention it in the comments or when you see me and I'll figure a way to do it.
I kind of liked our old hokey blog.. felt like an old comfortable shoe... This is now very easy to maintain. You don't have to know code or how to do anything. you just click on the choices you want and it does it for you. The up side to that is if anything should happen anybody can step in and keep her going. Ginger Dale, Barb Dudley and Jacky Thomas are perfectly capable of running this site now. I have seen what they can do and this thing would be both easy and fun for them.
I hope you continue to enjoy the website, visit often, send those snowbird letters and vacation letters, we'll publish them... Get yer digital camera out and email me some whiz-bang pictures. Want to sell something? Send it along.

You are in the right spot!
We have been forced to start making changes to the website. Awhile back our sponsor Blogger was bought by Google and they started integrating older blogs into their system. I resisted because ours was a complex creation and I didn't see the value to going to the new system.
Slowly though, they started changing functions that I could no longer control and we began to lose some of the features. Rather than lose more (recently we lost our commenting feature for instance) we've converted to the new way of doing things.
The links and familiar icons are gone for a short time until we can reinstall them and this will all take time. Bear with us as we rebuild the website and bring it back to you whole again... Sorry for the inconvenience.
Stories and news will continue to be posted every day but we will be awhile putting back all the features. Meanwhile, you should see the comments link return very soon.

Breakfast this Saturday
Only 8 people have signed up for breakfast this Saturday. The sign up list is used as a guide to buy supplies. Quite frankly, such a low turn out is not worth the effort of the volunteers. By coming to the breakfasts you support the Social Club with a very minimal profit..
If there is not a more robust sign up by Friday afternoon it is likely this event will be canceled.

Run of Killer Whales Coming Soon to Central Oregon Coast: "(Depoe Bay, Oregon) - It’s been happening for years on the Oregon coast, and yet it still remains a bit of a seasonal secret.
Each year, around April 15 or so, killer whales approach the area and patrol the central coast waters, looking for baby gray whales and maybe a few sea lions or seals to munch on. They are rarely seen in these waters, except at this time of year. And when it does happen, it’s in the Depoe Bay and Newport areas, but it’s often seen from Cascade Head all the way down to Florence."
CERT served our community twice today.... and you need to know about it...
Today a couple of events happened and CERT members came through for you. Marlene Crites made several broadcasts on CH6.16 throughout the community that workmen down on 101 were flushing a new water line they installed for the new tract being built North west of LVH... If you had your radio on you would have heard that there was a possibility of dirt in our lines... not good for expensive laundry or a parched palate.
Later in the day Ruthanne Carson fell at home and broke her ankle. She could not get to a phone... BUT... her FRS radio was handy. She called for help and Marlene again caught the call. Most of the CERT team was out of the park but Liz Hill and Coach McCready also heard the call for help. Two are CERT members and Liz is a LVH CERT volunteer. Coach responded to the call at Ruthanne's, bundled her up and got her into his truck with oxygen bottles that she needs and took her down to Samaritan Hospital for treatment and then brought her back home...
Did you know that many on the CERT team monitor the FRS radio park frequency 6.16 twenty-four hours a day, every day? Sometimes they may forget or be out of the park but for the most part everyone of you is watched over by your CERT team and they take that responsibility very seriously. Each week they meet and train on Wednesday at 11:00 am. They need help... You don't have to join CERT and train downtown you can be like Liz Hill, Kristy Graff, Ben Davi and Doris Davis and come to our Wednesday meetings and learn how to help our residents when the going gets rough. Learn how to back up the CERT team, your team. We don't care what kind of shape you're in or what doesn't work anymore, we are all in that same boat but we have a job for all that can help...

Did you know that many on the CERT team monitor the FRS radio park frequency 6.16 twenty-four hours a day, every day? Sometimes they may forget or be out of the park but for the most part everyone of you is watched over by your CERT team and they take that responsibility very seriously. Each week they meet and train on Wednesday at 11:00 am. They need help... You don't have to join CERT and train downtown you can be like Liz Hill, Kristy Graff, Ben Davi and Doris Davis and come to our Wednesday meetings and learn how to help our residents when the going gets rough. Learn how to back up the CERT team, your team. We don't care what kind of shape you're in or what doesn't work anymore, we are all in that same boat but we have a job for all that can help...

If a man plans on getting his haircut in Grand Rapids, Michigan Jude's Barber Shop used to be the place to go. With each haircut came a free beer, a practice that started many years ago. To protect the citizens the Michigan Attorney General has decreed that unless Jude gets a liquor license the free beer has to go. Fernanda Smith had a good thing going at Ghedotti's Restaurant in Park City, Utah where she was a waitress. If she thought the tips her customers put on their credit cards was not reflective of her excellent service she corrected the error and added what she considered appropriate on the credit card tab. She was up over a thousand dollars before the Summit County Sheriff called a halt and invited Fernanda to spend time in the local jail. Hampton's Cleaners in Ogden has a coupon for $10.00 off a Wedding Dress dry cleaning in case you have a need to re-use your gown. (801)731-3385 is the number to call if you are interested in purchasing a $350.00 genuine coyote rug. Over 200 children participated in last Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt in Brigham City's Pioneer Park and collected over 27,000 pieces of candy. (Do the math, divide 27,000 by 200 and see how many tummy aches resulted). Today's Salt Lake Tribune reports on current peace officers in the Bee Hive State that disciplines were meted out to a Centerville Police Officer for felony child abuse, a Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff for sexual misconduct with a prisoner, a Utah Highway Patrol officer for criminal trespass, a South Ogden Police Officer for domestic violence, a University of Utah Police Officer for driving under the influence, an Ogden Police Officer for sexual misconduct, and finally a Washington County received a three year suspension for telling a lie. Scanner Dogs can also install that on your scanners. It will be a community frequency and we hope to see local use grow as HAM Radio becomes more and more a new hobby at LVH.
If you are suffering from macular degeneration... HAM radio may be a good hobby for you to immerse yourself in. A good way to talk to people all over and listen to interesting conversation.
A HAM radio club? There are 8 Ham radio operators in the park now. The park sponsors beginning license classes every Monday at 5:30 in the clubhouse. All are welcome.. Anyone can start at any time in the course.. It has no beginning nor no end.

This is a "list" web page. This list is a try at a solution for a large problem. There are so many good ideas that come our way dealing with this or that... that somebody should deal with. While you may wonder who somebody is as I do. Certainly, we must realize at some level, that we are all somebody. The page will reflect ideas that should or could be done for the welfare of the community.
Here they will either rest in a boneyard of wishes or you as single person or as a group will say you know that is a really good idea and I am going to do it. Simple as that. If the idea has no merit, I expect it will be off to the boneyard with it. But, if you find it has merit then you can start on it or you can email me and say you would like to work with others to accomplish it... I'll keep track and keep the site uptodate.. notify groups willing to work together of other potential members.
What happens on the page will evolve itself. I will eventually move ideas to another page of finished or completed or to a boneyard page.. For now ideas will be up for 1 month and if they have no progress it will be off to the boneyard for them.
This new page is a google doc page and for those that know what that means I'm looking for help keeping it upto date.

AED is in service
Our new AED (automated electric defibrillator) is mounted in the clubhouse near the pool table and is in service... Several people in the park have been RED CROSS trained in its use including most of the CERT team and the Oregon State Police Volunteers and the Newport Police Volunteers.
CPR and AED classes will be offered to the general park residents sometime in April. The course will be taught by a certified Red Cross Instructor and Oregon State Police Officer, Carla Urbegeit.
To get the community use to the machine a CERT team member will be showing a 10 minute video on the machine from its manufacturer ZOLL at the clubhouse Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 11:00am and 1:00 Pm... Coming soon!
