Newport News-Times: Savory Cafin Newport offers food, musical entertainment and art: "On Saturday, the restaurant will host an artist debut party for Bruce Koike and his fish prints from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Coin of the Realm will play during this time, and Koike will talk between sets about his art.
The Japanese art of fish printing or “Gyotaku” (pronounced ghee-oh-tah-ku) utilizes the actual fish in the process to obtain an image of that fish. The literal translation of the Japanese term, “Gyotaku” is “fish rubbing”. The origin of this art form is credited to the late 18th century."
