Your Lot/Mailbox number could save your life!!

The CERT team is in the process of cutting time consuming problems from their rescue operations. Addresses of homes are a problem because duplicate numerical addresses exist all across the park on adjacent streets. This may become confusing during a disaster because it is already confusing under normal conditions. Some houses actually have their front facing on one street but for some strange reason have their address on another... very confusing.

One thing is precisely individual for each house and that is its lot number. There are no duplicates. Every home has a number unique to it alone. The CERT team is developing their Community Rescue plan based on that number. Each team has a map of the park split into 3 areas that show the lot # of each home and a number on the map that shows the number of folks that are normally at that location.

You are all familiar with the globe light addresses that are on most homes now. We have received extensive praise from fire, ambulance and police for doing that. Now we are going to do the same thing to help the CERT team find you quickly in case of an emergency.

We are thinking that we will put the lot numbers in a smaller size on the post of the globe light in white. (The post is black it ought to be a good contrast.) Automatically, some of you will think this is a good deal while others will not that is the way things work here. Over time more will come on board as they see the value of it.

As a start, Most of you know where we live on Windmill? The green house with the little red Neighborhood Watch truck in the driveway. I will put numbers on the post this week so you can see what they look like. Maybe you won't mind the idea at all if you can see what it will look like. We can have a small fee and put them on for everyone as a fund raiser or you can do it yourself. First, though take a look as you drive by. I'll try to get it on tomorrow.
