WHAT: Final touches in the renovation of Yaquina Head Lighthouse

WHEN: Windows will be installed in the oilhouse this month to restore it to the way it looked when lightkeeper Fayette Crosby first climbed the 114 steps to the lantern room and lit the wick of the oil lanterns the evening of Aug. 20, 1873.
THE LIGHT: The original Fresnel lens is in place, but the oil lanterns have long been retired in favor of a 1,000-watt globe that blasts a 130,000-candlepower beam out to sea."
