Let's talk... About what you need to do right now for your safety.....

Last night around 9:30pm the power went off all over Lincoln County. The town was a black ink blot. My house was so dark I had to put my finger in my eye to see if my eyes were closed. Now that is dark!

Several people went on the LVH Radio network and shared their predicaments. One had an oxygen generator shut down. Another was bumping their way around the house trying to find where the flashlight was. This is not good... Still another remarked that is was scary. But we bet it was not as scary as having no one to talk to and being alone.

Now one person pointed out that they had their radio and flashlight by a favorite chair and had no problem. That is certainly a good idea. Maybe positioning several flashlights in places where we could find them easily would be a good idea.

Now there is a great piece of equipment that all you grandchildren and children can get for Grandpa and Grandma... It is an emergency light that plugs into the wall outlet and does nothing until the power is lost ... then the light turns on... It would be clever of you to buy them this as a present for Granny. Because, sure as God made little green apples, one of us elders is going to fall rooting around in the dark for a flashlight.... Falls to old folks are very serious as our bones are fragile and could lay us up for months being taken care of by you at your home... :)

Seriously, I will find out where these are for sale and get the data to you soon.

Now other problems you might not have considered what can happen with a power outage. For instance your automatic garage door will not open your garage door! What if you need to get the hospital? CERT people can show you how to do this. If you have a radio call for CERT help and someone will show up. Stuck not being able to see? Call for CERT on the radio and we will get someone to help.

In closing, there is no longer a need for it to be scary... Just pick up your radio and turn it on.. a whole village of folks and a CERT team are there for you.
