News - StatesmanJournal.com: "Some may call it a piece of the American dream: When you're 16 years old, earn your driver's license and hit the road -- without your parents.

Beginning today, Mom and Dad may not be in the car, but they'll know where you're going.

Safeco is set to launch 'Teensurance,' a program that aims to increase communication between parents and young drivers by installing a GPS device on a car to record information, which parents can access online.

The service, for $15 per month, gives drivers 24/7 roadside assistance, and lets parents set speed limits and 'safe driving zones' and use curfew reminders.

What happens if the new driver goes over the speed limit or travels outside the designated zone? It'll show up online -- where only the parents can see -- or in a text message or e-mail."
