Ken Heriman of Independence sat inside a bunk house Saturday morning, tapping out Morse code at a ham radio station. With the quick movement of his fingers, he sent out a test message, identifying himself by his call signal, KD7BUJ.
No one responded. Heriman, 48, tried again, this time calling any station by tapping out CQ, which means 'seek you.'"
