State Government - StatesmanJournal.com: "House Bill 2639, sponsored by Rep. Vicki Berger, R-Salem, and others, would require drivers 75 and older to renew their licenses every four years instead of eight. It also would require them to take the driving-skills test, although Berger said she's willing to drop that provision to enhance the bill's chances for approval.

'I am not against old people, and I am not against old people driving,' Berger said. 'But in Oregon, we can go eight years -- eight years -- without ever having to enter the Driver and Motor Vehicle (DMV) Services office. That is a long time, and a lot of older people are not monitored by family and friends.'"
