...AND A NICE TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.

Ben Davi invited the neighborhood to join with his family in celebrating the life of his wife Donna who passed away a few weeks ago.

Donna had expressed a desire for a gala event and her wishes were granted.  Sixty four chairs had been set, and more had to be taken from the store room to satisfy the needs of the over flow crowd.

Family members and friends recalled Donna's life with stories from childhood to her time here at Long View Hills.  In keeping with the festive mood only a few tears were shed.

To some the dinner fare was a new experience.  Donna had requested "Okie" food and her wishes were carried out.  Fried potatoes, ham hocks with beans, fried okra, and tomato salad were on the menu.  One could tell the diners with "Okie" blood by observing that they knew to put the beans in a bowl rather than in a section of the partitioned dinner plates.  The true blue "Okies" knew to put the corn bread down first and put the beans on top.

The Club House was decorated with an array of pictures of Donna and her family, as well as a display of the many cards received by the family.

The celebration drew to a close by sixty four white balloons released into the windy summer air in the parking lot one at a time by those in attendance.  The sixty fifth balloon was red.....it was released by Ben.  It seemed like the red balloon soared the highest into the clear sky.

A neighbor remarked that she had asked Ben if he had any plans about moving.  She related that Ben said "I wouldn't know where to go, all of my friends are here in Long View Hills".

Events like this serve to remind us that we really DO live in a nice neighborhood, don't they?
