"NEW POND AT LVH's"


I was out for my afternoon walk, when I came across a new water pond behind the club house here at LVH's. Don't think it's been stocked yet with fish, so leave your poles at home. But maybe we can put some sand around it and call it the "LVH's Beach Club House ". Do to all the rain we've had these past days, caused the water to build up in this area, it won't be there for ever or should it? Looks kinda nice there, adds to the view from the club house patio.

Jacky and I wish all a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season to all. We wish we could be home to celebrate but Christmas is always fun with grandchildren and family. Somehow 75 degree weather with a mild Santa Ana wind doesn’t feel like a crisp Oregon Christmas. Short sleeve polo shirts vs long sleeve flannel shirts.... Forest of trees vs Forest of people, homes and traffic. View of ocean and trees vs view of traffic, smog and city.

We think you folks have a pretty good deal. While you are enjoying the season think of something that happened last year that you really liked because the New Years website will be asking for your input.

The tsunami plan was requested by President Bush and Congress after an earthquake on Dec. 26, 2004, caused a massive tsunami in the Indian Ocean. It killed or left missing at least 216,000 people in 11 Indian Ocean countries, and 'demonstrated international vulnerability,' said John Marburger, Bush's top science adviser."

Adopt A FAMILY
Everyone involved in collecting for the "Adopt A Family" would like to thank all the park residents for their generosity. The effort this year was a total success and the family was overwhelmed and grateful. It warms our hearts to know that we were all able to make this Christmas a happy time for one of our local families with small children who was not as fortunate as most of us.

A major earthquake off the U.S. West Coast could produce tsunami waves that send water surging up the coast to much greater heights than previously anticipated, according to scientists.

The finding stems from information gathered during a research expedition to the seafloor near the epicenter of the earthquake that caused the December 26, 2004, Indian Ocean tsunami."

Happiness in old age may have more to do with attitude than actual health, a new study suggests.

Researchers examined 500 Americans age 60 to 98 who live independently and had dealt with cancer, heart disease, diabetes, mental health conditions or a range of other problems. The participants rated their own degree of successful aging on scale of 1-10, with 10 being best."

Some observations of Beaumont

You know how we all get that sense of foreboding when the fire trucks pull into the park? They come and someone usually goes off to the hospital. Well, it happened here in this huge tract of homes last night.

First they ran up and down the streets calling everyone out of their homes. Next fire trucks and firemen were all over telling the children they had brought Santa to them.. Finally, the dude dressed in red appeared with a bag of candy canes for everyone. We got in our sleigh and traveled the several square mile housing development and fire trucks and firemen were all over the place with their cheer.... Here when you see a fire engine it might be Santa.

While driving around looking at Christmas lights we saw that Beaumont must have an address visibility law as every home has lighted address posted on its garage.

This is Jessie and Margaret Stogsdill who have lived here at Longview Hills since 1994. They have been married for 26 years. Margaret was born in the state Minnesota and Jessie comes from the state of Texas. I'm not going to give their ages away, but you can see they make a great looking couple. I hear Jessie is a great bowler and enjoys it very much. Margaret enjoys taking a dip in the Newport swimming pool and goes there every week.
