News Times Fire displaces residents in Newport: "The Newport Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire Monday night at a residence in the 6200 block of NE Evergreen Drive.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., 18 firefighters responded to a report of a residence filled with smoke. Upon arrival, crews found fire toward the back of the house and were able to knock down the fire from the doorway. Extinguishing the flames took about 15 minutes. Personnel remained on scene for an additional 90 minutes, securing the structure and ensuring that the fire was out.
