Newport News-Times: Newport's icon gets crabby: "Also receiving icons are the four districts in Newport. The Bayfront is now represented by a boat, South Beach an octopus, Nye Beach a sand dollar, and the Deco District the Yaquina Bay Bridge. These icons rest on a white background below a blue 'Newport,' above 'Oregon' and the city's new slogan, 'Newport, the coast you remember.' These icons are to create a user-friendly Newport in terms of navigation and identification."
