THE NATL WEATHER SVC IN PORTLAND HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AREAS & SMALL STREAMS IN.
SW WA & NW OR

* UNTIL 730 PM PST.

* AT 100 PM PST NATL WEATHER SVC DOPPLER RADAR & AUTOMATED
RAIN GAGES CONTINUE TO INDICATE HEAVY RAIN ACROSS THE REGION. RAIN
WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE REGION THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON.THEN BEGIN
TAPER OFF THIS EVENING. TWENTY FOUR HOUR RAINFALL AMOUNTS AS OF
NOON TODAY RANGE FROM 3 TO 11 INCHES ACROSS THE REGION.

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED.
STREAM RISES WILL BE SLOW & FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED.
HOWEVER.ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS
IMMEDIATELY.

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE.TURN AROUND.DONT DROWN.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE PONDING OF WATER IN
URBAN AREAS.HIGHWAYS.STREETS & UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER
POOR DRAINAGE AREAS & LOW LYING SPOTS.AS WELL AS ELEVATED LEVELS
ON SMALL CREEKS & STREAMS.
