News - StatesmanJournal.com: "A dead whale was found adrift Sunday about two miles west of Depoe Bay, one day before the kickoff to Whale Watching Week. The mammal was discovered by a fishing boat about 7 a.m., said Petty Officer Andrew Port. It is unclear how the whale died. A dead whale is a rare sight along Depoe Bay, which is one of the hubs of the summer whale-watching season. 'I don't think it has happened in the last four or five years,' Port said. With a pair of binoculars, he said, visitors likely can see the dead whale from Depoe Bay."
