Destroyed by fire
A 1980 Volkswagen Vanagon, driven by John L. Drago, 48, of Toledo was destroyed Monday afternoon after it caught fire just south of Depoe Bay. Drago was able to stop on the southbound shoulder of U.S. Highway 101, and he and two passengers escaped the vehicle without harm. The highway was completely blocked for about a half hour while the Depoe Bay Fire Department extinguished the blaze. (Photo by Charles Burke)
