Tsunami Alarm....

rt

While at City Hall during the CERT meeting Thursday a lady who's name I have forgotten but who is in charege of School Safety at 13 schools spoke about her NOAA Emergency Alert radio. She purchased it at Radio Shack for around $29. It runs off batteries and house electricity.

She said it monitors the NOAA weather and emergency alerts and sounds an audible alarm and a visible alarm whenever there is a local alert for an emergency such as a Tsunami, Thunderstorm or other problem. It won't shut off until someone acknowledges the alarm.

I think this would be an excellent addion to your home safety and plan to buy one soon myself. Naturally I want to see what is out there first. This may be the high tech answer to Newport not having a siren or any good way to notify us of an impending emergency. In the mean time we would like the community to think about purchasing one for the club house.. To be on all the time.
