A caller to 9-1-1 reported two men in the surf about 1 p.m. A beach crew of rescue workers from local agencies and a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer recovered the first man from the surf shortly after arriving on the scene.
The second man was spotted by the Coast Guard helicopter crew and recovered by the swimmer and beach team, the Coast Guard said. Both men were unresponsive and taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport."
