Metal thieves target catalytic converters in Salem | StatesmanJournal.com | Statesman Journal: "At least 32 catalytic converter have been stolen in Salem since the beginning of August, Salem police Lt. Dave Okada said Monday.

The devices, which are attached to a vehicle's exhaust system, contain trace amounts of precious metals that thieves hope to resell to junkyards or fencing operations, said Lt. Jim Anglemier of the Salem police Community Response Section."

In the Bay Area, creepy copper thieves are stealing the wiring at school auditoriums and theaters, which means no kids can put on performances until the stuff is replaced, and there's no money in the budget to do so. Rat bastards!
