News - StatesmanJournal.com: "Vader is a drug dog. He works for the Polk County Sheriff's Office and is skilled at what he does. He's also pretty darned good at tracking a missing person, which he and his handler, Detective Curtis Pitt, demonstrated so valiantly a year ago. Their efforts may have helped save the life of a child from the Dayton area. Pitt and Vader, a 2-year-old German shepherd, are among the extraordinary local heroes who will be recognized today by the Willamette Chapter of the American Red Cross during a breakfast ceremony at Salem Conference Center."
