Local News | Fire crews' goal: "Stop them small" | Seattle Times Newspaper: "Firefighters' efforts paid off Friday and early Saturday, when 2,671 lightning strikes were reported in Washington and Oregon within 24 hours. The strikes sparked 212 fires, but firefighters were able to quickly contain most of them."
