BLUEBERRY PICKING TIME IS HERE!!!

If you like Oregon Blueberries as much as I do, then Gibson's Farms is the place to go for Pick Your Own. They opened last Saturday and will pick Monday thru Saturday for as long as the season last. The price this years is 80 cent per lb and you need to bring your own buckets to take the berries home. They will have buckets for you to use to pick. For hours of operation call 444-2292 for a recorded message.

Directions are West on Highway 20 to Toledo (Dairy Queen) Left or North on 229. After you pass through Siletz Gibson's will be on your right. No big signs just blueberry bushes/trees and an opening in the fence. Pull into the field and find a place to park. You will find some girls with buckets and a scale on a flat bed trailer somewhere in the rows. This is your starting point they will direct you from there.

Take a group have some fun they don't charge you for all you eat as you pick. For a real adventure, after picking stay on 229 North it will bring you out on Hwy 101 just south of Lincoln City. A small but very scenic road along the Sieltz river, deep in the woods. The trip is slow going, so don't be in a hurry.

Trivia question: as you get closer to 101 see if you can name the movie this river appeared in: hint Henry Fonda and Paul Neuman were father and son.
