It may really be a matter of mind over matter - scientists suggest it is possible to control brain activity to reduce the pain you feel.
Stanford University researchers found seeing brain scans and using mental exercises helped reduce pain.
A UK pain expert said the work backed other studies which suggested changing how people thought about pain could reduce its effects.
The research is in Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.

On Monday some of the ladies on the hill gathered at the club house to make holiday center pieces for their tables and learn new ideas from eachother. There were only a few there, but they really enjoyed themselfs. Remember to check the monthy calendar out for what is going on at the Club House, who knows you might want to stop by.
Everyone needs to try and get out and enjoy the wonderful Christmas Lights our residents have put up to enjoy this time of year. Just get in the car after dark and take a short drive around the park, if you don’t drive, ask a neighbor or friend to take you around. It’s getting to be a bit cool after the Sun goes down to take a walk around to see them, unless you are a brave heart and dress nice and warm. Jim Dunlap has done a great job as shown in the picture. Plus there are many others to see, there is one down the road on Deer Lane that you have to either sit in your car or stand to watch for a few minutes, it changes to different colors, all they need is some music outside to go with their lights. So everyone enjoy and have a very safe holiday.

For a time ... a long time ... We had hopes of establishing a computer training, play lab and club at the club house. Some folks gave their older computers as they replaced them with new ones. Others donated other equipment. Trouble was they were all different in the way of operating systems and had different capabilities making it impossible to teach anything on them.
Donna Talarski put us on a waiting list at the Georgia Pacific plant in Toledo for 10 computers as they replace there older units with newer units. Today that became a reality. It started with a phone call from Donna saying that they had computers for us but they were on a first come first serve basis so we better hustle if we wanted first pick.
Throw the back seat out of the van... call Bill Furgason.. grab a banana for breakfast and we’re off to Toledo...
We arrive at the Toledo plant and the Capitan of Guards escorts us to the storage building where LVH’s new computers are waiting. They all are Pentium 3’s with Windows 98 operating systems. Along with the 10 we were given a server and an additional monitor.
Where are they now? They are in the back of my van. Why? Because we need a place to store them until we can go through them and then bring them to the clubhouse. Can you help?
New folks have moved into the neighborhood with computer expertise and a few of us older ones are here too. There are those that were interested in being in a LVH computer club. Now is the time that we could use your help. We have expert carpenters and cabinet makers here to .. We could use help making the computer room not look like a dumping ground by building shelving for our new computers.

"OUR COMMUNITY AND HOME ON THE HILL"
Let's remember what a wonderful Community Center we have here at Long View Hills and the great use we get out of it to meet and socialize with all the people that make this their home on the hill. Take time to visit with those who you cross paths with,as you come and go. We have so many new residents that have made this their home, so it's up to all of us to make this a friendly place and the best commiunity one would be proud to live. Our club house has so many items to use and check out to take home to either read, listen to or watch. Also the ping pong table, pool tables and even shuffle board, even a hot tub to help those aching bones is for use at the club house. We have many different functions that go on there, dinners, party's and get togethers. Hope to see a lot more residents get involved and come to our functions, they are listed on the monthy New's Letter calendar. In the near future I will be working on a survey to send to all residents, it will beplaced in your LVH club house mail box. Looking forward to your responses to get new ideas to make this a more enjoyable place to call home. Thank you so so much to all. ENJOY!!!!
