Pre - Sale Activities Tonight

Remember tonight at the LVH Club House at 5 PM is the pre - sale for all residents. Bring goodies, something to drink, if so inclined, and lists of what items are in your sale. We found out last year that if you make multiply copies of your list with your name and house number it is easier for everyone. That way you just pass out the papers and review. Last year we had several purchases prior to the Saturday sale.

Hope to see you at the club house today.

SID IS HOME AT LAST
I just spoke with Elaine, she just got back from Portland with Sid. He will be recovery at home and has a ways to go yet to be back up on his feet. It's best not to drop in for a visit yet, until we get the word that he is taking visitors at home, he is very tired per Elaine. She and Sid thanks everyone for their prayers and keeping an eye on there home. I know we all wish and pray for Sid's full recovery. The Doctors were amazed how quickly he came around and feels he is just one strong hearted person.

Early Morning Driver

Neighbor reported a car circling the block this morning at 4:15 Am It drove around the block 3 times on 55th and 54th streets. Some motion lights came on but I am not sure if the car stopped. As far as I know nothing was disturbed. We did verify it was not the paper man.

Something to make your Laugh.

Friday Funnies – Medical Alert
Did you hear about the man that met a little girl wearing a medical alert bracelet? He asked the little girl what it was for.

She answered, " I am allergic to eggs and nuts."
He asked if she was allergic to cats.
She answered " I don't know-I don't eat cats."

A BIG THANKS!!!!

Thank you all for your donation and pledges to the "Cancer Kickin Crusade" The Relay for Life lasted from 12:00 noon on Friday August 8th to 12 :00 Noon on Saturday August 9th. The GP team raised $8,500 through pledges, donations, bake sales and auctions at the mill.

The emotion that goes through one as you walk the first lap around the track and see the illuminaries with names of cancer victims as well as survivors is overwhelming.

It was a privilege to walk in the marathon and one I hope to repeat next year. Thanks again for your support.

Slim Pickins!

What a sorry lot we are here at LVH. Ron is gone and this web page is falling to the wayside. No new posting since Sunday? I can't believe none of us has nothing to say or that all is quite on the western front.

It's certainly not quite down in my section, a dozer moved in yesterday and he is moving dirt from morning til night. Windows or shaking, dogs are barking, and the dust is flying. Let's all pray the West Wind doesn't start before that hugh pile of dirt is buried or hauled away. If the winds pick up we will all have brown houses on 55th Street.

Okay folks, let's make Ron proud! Get your creative juices flowing and lets post some interesting articles on this page.

CANCER KICKIN CRUSADE

Most of us have been touched by cancer, either through a family member or friend. Friday and Saturday August 8th and 9th is the Relay for Life at the Newport Highschool. I have the privilege of walking in this marathon on Saturday. Since I am walking with the Georgia Pacific Team all of the proceed we collect will be matched dollar for dollar by Georgia Pacific.

We have already held several bake sales at the mill along with auctions and pledges. If you would like to pledge any amount to this cause, either post your name and the amount you want to pledge as a comment to this article or call me at 961-1991. All the money raised will go to The American Cancer Society for research and support groups.

Thank you for your support: working together we have the opportunity to wipe out cancer in our lifetime.

BLUEBERRY PICKING TIME IS HERE!!!

If you like Oregon Blueberries as much as I do, then Gibson's Farms is the place to go for Pick Your Own. They opened last Saturday and will pick Monday thru Saturday for as long as the season last. The price this years is 80 cent per lb and you need to bring your own buckets to take the berries home. They will have buckets for you to use to pick. For hours of operation call 444-2292 for a recorded message.

Directions are West on Highway 20 to Toledo (Dairy Queen) Left or North on 229. After you pass through Siletz Gibson's will be on your right. No big signs just blueberry bushes/trees and an opening in the fence. Pull into the field and find a place to park. You will find some girls with buckets and a scale on a flat bed trailer somewhere in the rows. This is your starting point they will direct you from there.

Take a group have some fun they don't charge you for all you eat as you pick. For a real adventure, after picking stay on 229 North it will bring you out on Hwy 101 just south of Lincoln City. A small but very scenic road along the Sieltz river, deep in the woods. The trip is slow going, so don't be in a hurry.

Trivia question: as you get closer to 101 see if you can name the movie this river appeared in: hint Henry Fonda and Paul Neuman were father and son.

LVH Garage Sale

What is your opinion on charging a nominal fee, say $5.00 per household, to be included in the LVH Garage Sale? Since the Social Club covers all expenses, i.e advertising, balloons, maps etc, this would be a way to cover the cost and raise money for the Social Club.
If anyone thinks this is a good suggestion, it could be brought up at the next meeting. Lets hear your thoughts.

boys will be boys

BOYS WILL BE BOYS

Today at 12:45 while driving through the gate we were met with a delightful sight. There on the grass just below Louise Vaughn's house were two young bucks. They were playfully romping and butting each other. When they heard us they stopped and must have decided we were ok so they went back to playing.

YARD CREW PROJECT!!!!!

The LVH Yard Crew has another project and will be gathering Saturday July 19th at 10 AM. Thanks to the Wilsons, Paradis,Shimeks, Newmans and the Burkes for your help. Bring your shovels, hoes, diggers, weedeaters, buckets gloves and a good strong back. We also have another tentative crew set to work on Wednesday July 23rd if we don't finish on Saturday. I will notify all those I have called if the 23rd is still needed.

If you are thinking of volunteers, but haven't yet give me a call. It is fun, good exercise, helps you get to know your neighbors and leaves you with a feeling of accomplishment. We can find a job for everyone no matter what your limitations.

No new projects!!!!!

The "Curb Appeal Crew" is at a stand-still in finding new projects. No one has come forward with new nominations. We did investigate a few potential yards and either they did not fall under the criteria of
(Physical ability and financial need) or they did not want or services.

Don't be bashful, if you know of someone or YOU are in need please call me. If we loose the momentum of the workers you may find you are to little and to late for any positive results.
