Rod McCready (Coach)
Rod, known as Coach to many residents here at LVH, is having a critical recovery at Samaritan Hospital in Corvalis. He is in ICU . He has complications resulting from an earlier surgery and cannot have visitors or calls. He may have to undergo yet another surgery if his condition improves. Rod is a member of the CERT team and has trained for years to be of help to our community in a disaster... Now in his time of disaster, please think of him with good thoughts and hope for his speedy recovery.

Help Lincoln County Food Share
On Saturday, Longview Hills will be having their “Second Time Around Sale” and Food Share could use some of your leftovers. If you have any jewelry that you don’t want back Food Share will take it.
Last year Food Share tried a fund raiser that really worked. They were given jewelry that no one wanted any more and sold it. It was cleaned up, repaired and sold at a event called
“Bejeweled”. Bejeweled will not be until next February but we could use your leftovers any time from this Saturday until February.
So, it you want to get a tax deduction and give to a great cause, please give me a call:

What's in a 'woof'? Computer interprets prison dog barks - USATODAY.com: "Six years ago, the Prisons Service joined with Bio-Sense, a high-tech company headquartered near Tel Aviv, to create a system that would notify them when dogs were barking because of something suspicious.
Bio-Sense recorded the patrol dogs barking in different situations, from playtime to cat encounters to real emergencies. They loaded thousands of these recordings into a computer program to determine 'what makes the emergency bark different than the other barks,' said Bio-Sense project manager Orit Netz."

An organization called the Portable Light Project has provided villagers with ingenious LED-lit reflectors. Flexible solar panels are sewn onto one side of a piece of fabric.
Sheila Kennedy is a Boston architect, whose firm, Kennedy & Violich Architecture, developed the units.
'You simply take this material, put it out in the sun for about 2 1/2 or 3 hours, it harvests the sunlight, turns it into electricity,' Kennedy said, 'and then you can use that electricity for about six or seven hours at night.'"

Editor's note to LVH residents... LVH Cert has trained 6 Ham radio operators in our community.. We are way better covered than anyone we know of on our coast. We are dedicated and train weekly at 10:00am on Monday except the last Monday of the month when we meet at 6:00pm.. We could use a hand .. there are 285 of you to take care of and only 10 of us to do it... Do the math! Hope to see you at the meeting.
